Herbie the Heron

on Edward the Hooman's goldfish!

What a cheek! Here's me, as thin as a pole and
they're just goggling at me. So, a quick look to make
sure that there are no hoomans about and none of
those noisy black and white jobs with brushy tails in
the garden, and I'm stabbing down into the water.
Oh Gaia, a piece of cake! Well, a piece of fish
actually, a nice fat golden fish. Lift it out of the
water, give it a little flick in the air, turn it towards
my beak and down it goes! Why head first? Come
on! Ever tried to push a Christmas tree through a
door with the roots first? I mean, fish might have a
tiny end, but the fins stick out the wrong way, and
those little flaps at the sides of their heads might
get stuck in my gullet, and I don't like choking any
more than you do!
